Hello friends! Sorry for the brief absence, I spent the last week on the coast of California with my in-laws. The bright side of my silence on here is that I have some fun pictures for you today!
David's parents rented a house practically across the street from the beach, so we spent quite a few hours there. Unfortunately, the stretch of beach was covered in oil pellets due to a recent oil spill, but a few hundred yards away the beach was clean so we enjoyed a little extra exercise.
It's impossible to visit LA and not go to Disneyland. I went early with David's family and he came later with Margot so I could bond with his family a little bit.
The best part of Disneyland was watching Margot. She LOVED meeting the Winnie the Pooh characters, and had a blast on It's a Small World and the Pooh ride. It was a long day though, so by the time the fireworks show started, she had passed out and slept through the entire thing! Disneyland is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year, so it was a spectacular show.
One of our days was spent at the Channel Islands. We took a boat to Santa Rosa, spent more time at the beach, then toured some sea caves on our way back to the mainland. This was probably my favorite day of the trip, despite a terrible sunburn. If you ever have the chance to visit Santa Rosa, DO! Not very many people went, so we had two miles of beach to ourselves and a beautiful hike. Plus the sea caves on the way back will make you feel like a pirate, and who doesn't want to feel like a salty old sea captain?
Our final day was spent celebrating Independence Day. Lots of beach time, lots of delicious food, and lots of fireworks. I am so grateful and proud to be American, and for the sacrifices of so many that allow me to live the wonderful life that I do.
I hope all you had a wonderful, safe weekend of celebration!
